Fundamentals of Filmmaking for Teens
with Jacob French
Ages: 13 - 19
Learn the basics of filmmaking, including: how to run a set, shot composition, lighting design, and fundamentals of editing. A camera is required for this class, but that could be anything from a phone, to a DSLR, to a cheap camcorder. Additionally, a computer with editing software is necessary: the instructor recommends Adobe Premiere Pro, but DaVinci Resolve is an entirely functional free alternative. While gear is not the focus of the class, students will have the opportunity to use industry standard equipment in a mock film set in-class. By the end of the class, students will have guidance in making a short film of their own. While covering the basic elements of filmmaking, the instructor will also be flexible in exploring areas of interest for the class. This class is designed for teens of all skill levels.
Students are responsible for providing their own camera and computer.
