With almost twenty years of gallery representation, Stephen Mallon has amassed the skills and experience required to work with festivals, galleries, museums, and more. Whether you’re an emerging artist navigating the world of open calls or a seasoned creative looking to break into galleries, this multi-part series offers something for everyone. Join Stephen as he shares his wisdom and experience, along with plenty of helpful tips and useful hacks, to help you get your work seen by your target audience. 

Every week we will check in on projects that you are working on- archive, promotion, research, grants, residencies, open calls- what are you getting done?

In addition, Stephen will share a select list of opportunities to discuss both pending and to prepare for such as the Kentler International Drawing Space, Pen and Brush, Guggenheim fellowship, Art Bridge, NYFA’s doctor’s hours, The Dorsky, and more!

Week 1:  Show your work! 

Let’s talk about the work! Gallery and museum hierarchy - who to call? For this session, students need to bring copies of their slides or website with them. 

 Week 2: Artists in Progress  

This session focuses on brainstorming sessions, artist statements, and deliverables.

Week 3: LGO- Let's Get Organized!  

We will wrap up the series by covering photographing work, archives, spreadsheets, titles, CV, press kit, and artist bios.
