Experimental Filmmaking
with Jacob French
$185
Experimental Filmmaking will be an exploration of the world of Radical Cinema, Video Art, and Mixed Media Filmmaking. Whether you have film experience or not, this is a perfect class for artists looking to expand on their existing craft or try a new medium! Experimental film is incredibly process-based, so this class will help provide guidance and consistent feedback as you develop your own experimental short film. The class will also be partially lecture-based class, screening examples of Radical Cinema and Video Art to practice analysis and spark ideas. With a small class size, everyone will have lots of opportunity to explore their own concept. A camera is required for this class, but that could be anything from a phone, to a DSLR, to a cheap camcorder. Additionally, a computer with editing software is necessary: the instructor recommends Adobe Premiere Pro, but DaVinci Resolve is an entirely functional free alternative. Adobe Photoshop and Adobe After Effects may be useful as well.
Students are responsible for providing their own camera and computer.
Our class/workshop cancellation policy can be found here.
We believe art should be accessible to all. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify.
