Monthly Print Studio Pass

Take advantage of our fully equipped printmaking studio and work on our own projects on your own time! This pass gives you unlimited access to our print studio during open studio hours for one month.This is not a class and is for experienced printmakers only. Artists are responsible for their own ink and paper. Open Studio hours will be sent to all registrants.

We require anyone new to our print studio to set up a time to meet with a member of our staff so we can show you the studio and answer any questions in person. Please contact info@garrisonartcenter.org to make an appointment.

Adult Pottery: daytime classes

Come be part of the pottery community at GAC! Adult Pottery is a class where you can develop or refine your skills on the wheel or with hand-building techniques—whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced potter! This 10-week, multi-level class is open to adults and mature high school students, and offers a flexible learning experience tailored to a variety of skill levels.

Beginners will focus on essential techniques like centering clay on the wheel, throwing basic pots, handbuilding, and learning foundational glazing methods. For intermediate and advanced students, the class provides a great opportunity to deepen your expertise, refine your technique, and explore new creative possibilities. Plus, you'll have access to 6 hours per week of open studio time to practice and work on your projects outside of class.

This is a fantastic chance to build your skills at a great value, with individualized instruction and a collaborative, supportive environment. While materials and firing fees are not included, the knowledge and experience you'll gain over 10 weeks will be well worth the investment. Whether you're looking to start from scratch or take your pottery to the next level, this class offers something for everyone!

Pastel Painting for Seniors

Calendar Next session starts Apr 7, 2026 at 1 pm, runs for 8 weeks

This eight-week class for students 65+ years of age focuses on basic drawing and painting from objects. Still-life displays will be set up around the room. Class will begin with a drawing and painting demonstration and then students will continue independently with support from teaching artist Beth Bohrer. This class is for beginners and for those looking to refresh their skills. Senior citizen students looking for a creative outlet and camaraderie are encouraged to join in the fun! Some basic drawing materials will be provided but students are also encouraged to bring in their own favorite supplies.

These sessions are for senior citizens only and are low-cost to help ensure that art is available to experience at any age.

Children's Pottery

Ages: 7 - 12

Two different days are available.

Our teaching artist, Renee Curci Ivanoff, will guide young artists through the techniques of working with clay: pinch, slab, coil, and wheel. Students will be introduced to both hand-building and the pottery wheel. Continuing students will develop and push their skills in all ways with adaptive projects that will meet everyone at their own level. This class is for students ages 7-12 of all skill levels.

Pottery for Teens

We are pleased to offer a pottery class just for teens!

This class will provide a break from the stress of middle and high school and serve as an excellent place to nurture their inner selves while learning all aspects of ceramics. Students will focus on developing skills in wheel throwing, hand building, surface design, and glazing.

No experience required! Teenagers at all levels of experience can be accommodated in our small classes. For teens ages 13 and up.

Firing fees and material costs are the responsibility of each student.

Full Course

Mosaics

Calendar Next available session starts Apr 15, 2026 at 3 pm, runs for 3 weeks

This class is an introduction to mosaic using glass and broken ceramics, covering design, cutting techniques, and grouting to create a finished piece. Students will draw inspiration from and work with pieces by celebrated American designer Russel Wright, exploring how his modern color palette can influence mosaic design.

The course also includes a special trip to Manitoga: The Russel Wright Design Center on April 24, where students will experience Wright’s home, studio, and surrounding landscape as part of the creative process.

Open to beginners as well as those with some experience, this class is designed for adults and teens of all skill levels. All materials are included.

This class is scheduled to be in our print studio, which is only accessible by stairs.

All Things Paper

Ages: 7 - 11

In this fun and creative class for kids, students will explore all the amazing things they can do with paper! They’ll learn how to roll and shape, tear and fold, and cut and glue paper strips and pieces to create intricate designs, stacked collages, and colorful quilled patterns. Along the way, children will discover the unique properties of paper and use simple techniques to turn everyday materials into imaginative works of art. All materials are included.
