Children's Pottery

Ages: 7 - 12
Three different days are available.
Our teaching artist, Renee Curci Ivanoff, will guide young artists through the techniques of working with clay: pinch, slab, coil, and wheel. Students will be introduced to both hand-building and the pottery wheel. Continuing students will develop and push their skills in all ways with adaptive projects that will meet everyone at their own level. This class is for students ages 7-12 of all skill levels.

Adult Pottery: evening classes

Come be part of the pottery community at GAC! Adult Pottery is a class where you can develop or refine your skills on the wheel or with hand-building techniques—whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced potter! This 10-week, multi-level class is open to adults and mature high school students, and offers a flexible learning experience tailored to a variety of skill levels.
Beginners will focus on essential techniques like centering clay on the wheel, throwing basic pots, handbuilding, and learning foundational glazing methods. For intermediate and advanced students, the class provides a great opportunity to deepen your expertise, refine your technique, and explore new creative possibilities. Plus, you'll have access to 6 hours per week of open studio time to practice and work on your projects outside of class.
This is a fantastic chance to build your skills at a great value, with individualized instruction and a collaborative, supportive environment. While materials and firing fees are not included, the knowledge and experience you'll gain over 10 weeks will be well worth the investment. Whether you're looking to start from scratch or take your pottery to the next level, this class offers something for everyone!

Family Clay Studio
with Renee Curci Ivanoff
For kids from 7 to 17 plus you, their family member! Set a date with your child, niece, nephew, or friend, and join us on Saturday mornings. Have fun creating, exploring, and working with clay together. Family Clay Studio is a wonderful way to share and create with clay. You’ll work together learning how to hand-build, throw on the wheel, glaze, and learn a bit about the kiln. Your glazed and fired pieces will be your clay treasures to take home. Class runs for 8 weeks and includes materials and firing fees.
This class is for families ONLY, not for individuals. Price is by the individual, please purchase a spot for each family member.

Pottery for Teens
with Renee Curci Ivanoff
Ages: 13 - 19
We are pleased to offer a pottery class just for teens!
This class will provide a break from the stress of middle and high school and serve as an excellent place to nurture their inner selves while learning all aspects of ceramics. Students will focus on developing skills in wheel throwing, hand building, surface design, and glazing.
No experience required! Teenagers at all levels of experience can be accommodated in our small classes. For teens ages 13 and up.
This class includes a fee for all materials. Firing fees are the responsibility of each student.

Handbuilding and Sculpture Techniques
with Ada Pilar Cruz
Explore creating dynamic clay sculptures in this advanced hand-building class with teaching artist and sculptor Ada Pilar Cruz. This class is open to both sculptors as well as potters working in a sculptural way. Class runs for 10 weeks and includes 6 hours a week of open studio time. Materials and firing fees are not included.
This is a mixed-level class, which may include beginners, intermediate, and advanced-level students. We find having students of varied skill levels can create an enriched learning experience for all participants.
