Exploration in Encaustic: Layering Image, Texture & Story
with Alaina Enslen
Encaustic is a medium of texture, light, and transformation. In this immersive workshop, we’ll explore how wax interacts with collage, ink, paint, image transfers, and unexpected materials to create rich, layered surfaces.
Through guided demonstrations and open experimentation, students will learn how to build translucent layers, embed materials, incise into wax, and fuse imagery into luminous compositions. We’ll focus on texture, transparency, and the powerful dialogue between surface and story.
Whether you are new to encaustic or looking to deepen your mixed media practice, this class invites curiosity, play, and discovery. This is open to all levels of experience and all materials are included.
