Photographing Your Art
with Gerry Katzban

Getting high-quality renditions of your artwork can be an art-form in itself. This course will demonstrate how to create a seamless background for 3-D work such as sculpture and ceramics, as well as setups for flat and 2-D artwork. Using available light or fixtures that can be found around the home, as well as studio-based lighting, we’ll explore how to illuminate artwork to capture volumetric form and detail and natural color. Cameras that can be used for this class range from smartphones to DSLR’s and mirrorless. The course will also cover post-processing using apps as well as demonstrations of computer based software such as Photoshop and Lightroom. Students may bring a small-scale example of a 2D or 3D artwork for us to experiment with. This class is for adults and mature teens of all skill levels. Cameras are not included; please bring your own to class.
Our class/workshop cancelation policy can be found here.
We believe art should be accessible to all. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify.
Landscape and Nature Photography
with Gerry Katzban

Taking advantage of the scenic beauty of the Hudson Highlands, we will visit four locations that provide photo opportunities ranging from close-ups to grand vistas. We’ll start with a basic overview of exposure and any questions about camera operation, then set out on our first shoot. Following sessions will meet on-location (within 5 miles of GAC) and focus on various forms of composition and photographic techniques. The instructor will give immediate feedback on student work and progress. Cameras suitable for this course range from smartphones to DSLR and mirrorless. Useful options include close-up, wide-angle, and telephoto lenses. This class is for adults and mature teens of all skill levels. Cameras are not included; please bring your own to class.
This class will take place in a different location each week. Students will receive an email with location information for the first class.
