Handbuilding and Sculpture Techniques
with Ada Pilar Cruz
Explore creating dynamic clay sculptures in this advanced hand-building class with teaching artist and sculptor Ada Pilar Cruz. This class is open to both sculptors as well as potters working in a sculptural way. Class runs for 10 weeks and includes 6 hours a week of open studio time. Materials and firing fees are not included.
This is a mixed-level class, which may include beginners, intermediate, and advanced-level students. We find having students of varied skill levels can create an enriched learning experience for all participants.
Our class/workshop cancellation policy can be found here.
We believe art should be accessible to all. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify.
Visiting Artist Family Workshop
with Mara Baldwin
Join us for a free workshop with Visiting Artist Mara Baldwin! This family workshop will invite participants to create small bark boats inspired by the artist’s research and materials. Held on Garrison Art Center’s riverfront property, this session will include gathering natural debris from the banks of the Hudson River and assembling boats using wax, knotting, and lashing techniques. This activity draws from camp traditions and highlights themes of resourcefulness and imaginative play.
This workshop is for children ages 6 and up and an adult member of their family. This is not a drop-off workshop. All children need to have at least one adult registered with them. Please sign up each family member individually.
This workshop is offered free of charge as part of Garrison Art Center's Visiting Artist program. Please notify us immediately if you can no longer attend so we may offer your spot to another family.
